Celebrity Solstice: Deck Plan & Amenities Celebrity Cruises

celebrity cruise solstice

Celebrity Solstice’s itineraries also include unforgettable transpacific sailings between Japan and North America, where you’ll spend relaxing days at sea reveling in all the luxuries onboard. Explore breathtaking destinations around the world while aboard an award-winning ship, where globally inspired cuisine, enchanting performances, and luxurious accommodations await. The spa area is a strong source of revenue for cruise lines, and it’s no different on the Celebrity Solstice. We toured the area after embarkation but did not take advantage of any spa facilities during our cruise (probably because we had only one sea day). As more cruise lines and ships move to a paperless environment, there is less chance of getting a printed daily program for activities. However, on the Celebrity Solstice, our room steward would put a paper copy of Celebrity Today each night.

Cruise itinerary October (9-day "South Pacific Islands" roundtrip from Sydney NSW) became Australia's first-ever vegan-themed voyage. It was available for booking on Celebrity Solstice and featured a special vegan dining menu. The itinerary's call ports were in New Caledonia and Vanuatu (Noumea, Mystery Island, Isle of Pines, Lifou Island). The perfect place to enjoy a casual meal for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Set in a casually chic environment, the buffet features an impressive variety of tasty international dishes, including Mexican, Asian, and European fare. Oceanview Bar provides any number of beverages to be enjoyed in a beautiful outdoor venue.

Younger cruisers can cut loose and kick back the way they want in our hip VIP area geared specifically for teens. From teen-oriented explorations to the dance club and coffee lounge designed with them in mind, X Club is sure to be a hit with all of our teenage guests. Host your meetings in serenity and style in our state-of-the-art facility, with the ability to accommodate up to 200 guests.

Things I DIDN’T LOVE About the Celebrity Solstice

The grand Solstice Theater is the premier live performance venue aboard Celebrity Solstice. Escape to the comforting environment of the decidedly casual Passport Bar. Inspired by the relaxed living space of large, oceangoing yachts, the Passport bar is an ideal place to take a break, plan your next excursion, or share stories with others.

Discover the wonders of Alaska, Australia and Asia, and more with these Celebrity Solstice itineraries.

Karen and I were fortunate enough to cruise four times in 2022 across Royal Caribbean, Princess, and Cunard. Our cruise on the Solstice was our first Celebrity cruise since 2019. The slightly cheaper Classic package costs USD 89 a day for drinks up to USD. However, we saw only a few drinks under USD 10, and these were generally wine by the glass or a beer. Wi-Fi costs USD 19.99 daily and is suitable for email, messaging, and browsing.

Wide Stateroom Hallways

When you arrive at the highest point on the ship, you won't be disappointed. With an atmosphere inspired by ice and snow, the enchanting frosted bar is the place to be in the heart of the "coolest" setting on the ship. An absolute must-visit for its hip and classy feel, swing by The Martini Bar and grab a drink before dinner or make a night of it. This bar has a vibe like no other, which makes it the perfect spot to chill out with friends all night long. We had one of these rooms, which featured the lifeboat/tenders front and center. It made getting a picture of the glaciers and shoreline fairly difficult, so we'd recommend avoiding these on an Alaskan cruise.

Facilities are also available for passengers with visual or hearing disabilities. Celebrity Solstice rooms are pleasant but not necessarily the most up-to-date in the fleet. The biggest issues are the lack of outlets and USB ports by the bed, something that is now almost considered mandatory in any kind of room, be it a hotel or a cruise ship. My wife Karen still considers Celebrity and Royal Caribbean her “favorite cruise lines,” but I feel my cruise on Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth to be my favorite among the Premium lines. Drink packages varied from USD 30 a day for the zero proof package (soda, premium water, specialty coffees, smoothies, and non-alcoholic drinks) to USD 109 daily for a premium drinks package. However, kids were present on our cruise but seemed just to be part of the passenger mix.

Glass Elevators

Our accessible staterooms are designed with wider doors, roll-in showers, grab bars, and other special features for guests with mobility issues and other disabilities. These super wide stateroom hallways with little bump outs in front of the cabin doors made me happy, then mad, then happy again. I’ve suffered past trauma relating to the super narrow stateroom hallways on some ships (cough, NCL). So I was really happy to see the wide hallways on the Solstice. On our Celebrity Eclipse cruise in 2019, the Lawn Club was wide open with over 20,000 square feet of grass – over a half acre!

The Food on Celebrity Solstice Meets Expectations, Some Specialty Options Hidden

I know some older passengers prefer to sail without kids on board and avoid cruises during peak times for kids. During our cruise, the wind was blistery, and you needed a coat to fight against the cool temperatures. Times vary per cruises, but classes are available when ships aren’t in port. The Hot Glass Class is unique to Celebrity and impressive that you can do it on a cruise ship.

The Hot Glass Studio is up here as well; if you want to take a class, book as soon as you board. The Sunset Bar at the back of the ship is one of the best sailaway points. Holding 2,850 guests at double occupancy, Celebrity Solstice flourishes wherever it is deployed, be that Australia, Asia or Alaska. The Sky Lounge, with its bank of windows, is perfect for wildlife viewing in Alaska and scenic cruising anywhere else. The Lawn, with its private Alcoves for rent, is a draw when the ship is in warm climates and two pools, indoor and outdoor, mean that you can swim, no matter what the weather.

The room is light intones, bright and with ample use of the signature design element of Solstice, glass. Instead of a wine cellar, one end of the MDR is accented with a 2-story glass wine tower. Unlike some cruise ships, Celebrity Solstice and the vessels in its class that came after it -- Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Equinox and Celebrity Reflection -- have more than one atrium area. These 130 cabins are essentially standard balcony cabins with prime locations and additional spa-themed perks, including access to Blu, the ship's "spa cuisine" restaurant. Fitness is also central to the experience here, with an in-room menu of amenities that include a mediation kit with weighted blanket; a yoga kit; a strength and conditioning kit and a recovery kit.

You can read a detailed review of dining onboard, including menus. This buffet is on Deck 14 and is open daily from early morning until late in the evening. The Oceanview Café offers various breakfast, lunch, and dinner culinary options. The Solstice has lovely public areas, with lots of seating around the central atrium, often featuring live music. The atrium was also used by a staff member teaching various dance classes. Modern and classy, Solstice was the biggest passenger ship built in Germany.

I assume many kids were involved in various Fun Factory or X Club activities because we didn’t see many children onboard. No review of the Celebrity Solstice would be complete without mentioning their children’s program. On our cruise, of the 2600 passengers, over 400 were kids due to the spring break in most school districts. As a result, Karen and I rarely spent time in the library because we were busy with excursions. Every cruise ship has a Cruise Director to oversee all the activities during your cruise. The comedian we enjoyed on embarkation day put on a 2nd show on Day 6 that was more ‘Adult-content.’ Check the daily “Celebrity Today” newsletter for what show is on each evening.

Play your favorite outdoor games, catch a concert, or just take in some sun at The Lawn Club. Invigorate your senses and discover an amazing level of soothing spa treatments at The Spa. Relax, rest, and recharge aboard Celebrity Solstice and we’ll take care of every detail, so all you have to do is enjoy your vacation.

Escape into a good book or browse through some of your favorite magazines in our spacious and peaceful library; two floors of quiet contemplation and vast knowledge are at your fingertips. Located in the atrium, play a hand or two of gin with old friends or new ones. Beautiful walkways lead you from sophisticated boutiques to fine jewelry stores that hold stylish clothing, precious gems, cosmetics, fragrances and more. Window shop, attend a fashion show or select gifts for friends and family.

It’s also a great area to start a conversation with fellow cruisers dining at a nearby table. Celebrity Cruise Lines prides itself on high-quality dining and has won several awards. Of the premium lines we have sailed on, dining on Celebrity was second only to Cunard.
